I am a Los Angeles-based painter whose recent work has evolved from abstracted landscapes to a more in-depth exploration of the natural world: the seen and unseen, and the underlying energy behind it all.
My recent paintings explore how we navigate our human bodies from an energy perspective. The concepts of the Earth’s natural electromagnetic frequency (Schumann Resonance), how trillions of neutrinos (subatomic particles) pass through our bodies every second, how NASA uses terms like the Pulse of the Planet, or Earth's Heartbeat to describe satellite imagery tracking the planet's vital signs - I find all of these concepts fascinating. How do our "solid" bodies fit into a "fundamentally energy and consciousness, not matter" way of thinking?
My paintings often include depictions of "myself" interacting in nature and its energy. I begin the piece with an image/idea from an intuition, and change and respond to it without a preconceived finished state. While the image points to the concept, the painting itself is also about painting. The aspects of color and movement within the painting are important to me to help to create a feeling that is beyond the literal interpretation of the piece.
