My paintings explore the space between observation and memory, where figures become less about identity than presence. I am interested in the moments when a face dissolves into shape, when gesture carries more meaning than expression, and when color begins to describe emotion rather than light.
Working intuitively, I build images through layers of simplified forms, visible brushwork, and shifting edges that allow subjects to emerge rather than be fully defined. I often leave passages unresolved, inviting the viewer to participate in completing the image through their own memory and experience.
While my work begins with people, it is ultimately about the quiet psychological spaces they inhabit—solitude, tenderness, uncertainty, and contemplation. I hope these paintings feel familiar without becoming specific, existing somewhere between portrait, dream, and recollection.
